Coffs Metal Works + the Cigweld Transmig 355i: A Serious Upgrade for Structural Steel

The Cigweld Transmig 355i has become one of the key workhorses in our new workshop. As a 415V multi‑process welder capable of MIG, TIG, and Stick, it gives us the flexibility and power needed for the heavy structural steel projects now coming through the doors. The compact/remote plant setup (W1003511) fits perfectly into our workflow, delivering high duty cycles and the reliability required when we’re fabricating large‑scale components.

For the structural steel jobs we’re taking on — including projects exceeding 100 tonnes — this machine isn’t just a tool, it’s part of the backbone of our production line. Its stable arc control, strong penetration, and consistent weld quality allow us to meet the tight tolerances and high standards demanded in structural fabrication. Whether we’re welding beams, columns, bracing, or custom assemblies, the 355i keeps up without hesitation.

Why It Matters for Our Workshop

  • High-volume structural work — The 355i handles long weld runs and thick material without dropping performance, which is essential for large steel frames and heavy plate work.

  • Multi‑process flexibility — MIG for speed, TIG for precision, Stick for on‑site or hard‑to-reach areas. One machine covers it all.

  • Reliability under pressure — Structural steel fabrication doesn’t allow for mistakes. The 355i gives us repeatable, clean results that pass inspection the first time.

  • Perfect fit for our upgraded workshop — As we continue to move beyond the old scrapyard setup, equipment like this helps us deliver the level of quality and professionalism our clients expect.

The Bigger Picture for Coffs Metal Works

This welder is part of a broader push to modernise and expand our capabilities. With new structural steel contracts rolling in and our workshop now built for precision and efficiency, machines like the Transmig 355i help us stay ahead of demand and outperform expectations. Every upgrade we make strengthens our ability to take on bigger projects, support local industry, and create more opportunities across the Coffs Coast.
