Coffs Metal Works — Cancellation Policy (After Deposit Paid)
1. Purpose of Deposits
Deposits paid to Coffs Metal Works secure:
- Materials and components,
- Workshop time and labour allocation,
- Custom fabrication scheduling,
- Administrative and processing costs.
Once a deposit is paid, work begins immediately—either through ordering materials or allocating labour.
2. Cancellation by Customer
If a customer chooses to cancel an order after a deposit has been paid, the following applies:
a. Standard Products
For non‑custom items:
- A minimum 20% cancellation fee applies to cover administrative and restocking costs.
- If materials or stock have already been ordered, the cancellation fee may increase to cover supplier charges.
b. Custom Fabrication / Made‑to‑Order Items
Custom work is not refundable once a deposit has been paid. This includes:
- Custom trailers,
- Custom parts,
- Modifications,
- Special‑order components.
If the customer cancels:
- The deposit is forfeited,
- Additional costs may apply if materials have already been purchased or fabrication has commenced.
3. Cancellation by Coffs Metal Works
If we must cancel due to supplier issues, material shortages, or circumstances outside our control:
- Customers will be offered a full refund of the deposit, or
- The option to wait for restock or choose an alternative product.
4. Deposits Are Non‑Refundable Unless Required by Law
Deposits are used to secure materials and labour. They are non‑refundable, except where required under the Australian Consumer Law (e.g., major failure or inability to supply the product).
5. Change‑of‑Mind Cancellations
Change‑of‑mind cancellations do not qualify for deposit refunds. This includes incorrect measurements, incorrect product selection, or deciding not to proceed.
6. Timeframe for Cancellation Requests
All cancellation requests must be made in writing via email. This ensures accurate record‑keeping and protects both parties.
7. Supplier & Material Costs
If materials have already been ordered from suppliers:
- Any supplier cancellation fees,
- Freight costs,
- Special‑order charges
will be deducted from the deposit or invoiced separately.
8. Australian Consumer Law Compliance
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If a product or service cannot be supplied due to a major failure, customers may be entitled to a refund.
