Trailer Repair Case Update
After receiving the call about this trailer, our customer was relieved and excited to hear that the repair work is now complete. The trailer has been fully straightened, pulled back into alignment, cut, replaced where required, and is now ready to be welded up. It has taken a significant amount of skilled work to bring it back to a safe condition.
This damage was the result of extremely poor workmanship carried out elsewhere, including incorrect bearing installation. We posted an earlier blog about the case, but we have only just received approval to release the photos shown in this update. Thankfully, no one was injured.
Choosing the Right Workshop Matters
When having your trailer repaired, it’s important to avoid workshops that:
- Have poor reviews or no online presence
- Lack qualifications or trade certifications
- Offer cheap repairs without proper engineering knowledge
- Operate like a backyard junkyard rather than a professional workshop
Always check that the repairer holds relevant trades such as autobody refinishing, welding, and mechanical qualifications. Trailers are road‑going equipment, and incorrect repairs can lead to serious accidents.
Our Commitment to Safety
Coffs Metal Works offers free trailer inspections. If everything is in good condition, we provide a verbal report. If issues are found, we complete our pre‑delivery checklist and provide a full written report outlining the faults and recommended repairs.
Your safety on the road and at the ramp is our priority.

Repair Progress Update
This photo shows the trailer mid‑repair, and you can clearly see the bend in the original frame in the background. It has been a detailed job involving pulling, pushing, cutting and replacing sections to bring everything back into alignment. It’s been an interesting one to work on, especially compared to the old days when you could simply replace a part and move on.
The final stage now is a clean grind and a proper weld‑up, and with the frame straight again, it will finish up nicely.
